Johor Bahru Kway Teow Kia (Johor Bahru)

Singaporean diners should be familiar with Kway Chap – 粿汁 which is a common classic dish around the heartlands..

But have you ever tried Johor Bahru‘s version – Kway Teow Kia – 粿條仔 which are using skinnier rice cake strips-like noodles in boiling flavory herbal soup?

We visited this famous traditional Johor Bahru Kway Teow Kia – 老字号 新山粿条仔 restaurant around Taman Sentosa area!

By early evening time, the makeshift outdoor area is already full of hungry diners..

There are a wide variety of freshly-cooked ingredients to choose from, such as various pork intestines and parts – tongue, skin, lean meat, blood (made into curd) and belly braised in herbal broth etc. There’s also braised eggs, tofu, fish cakes, pickled cabbage and cooked vegetables too!

One of a MUST to try is definitely their Pig Blood Curd – 猪血 or 血豆腐 which is deliciously-good, soft and smooth, as well as slightly chewy!
