Recall of Spices from Arifoglu Due to Presence of Unpermitted Colourings (SFA)

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has detected the presence of unpermitted colourings in various spices from Arifoglu imported from Turkey. The colourings (Sudan I, Sudan III, Sudan IV and Fast Garnet GBC) are industrial dyes that are potentially carcinogenic and are not permitted for use in food.


As a precautionary measure, SFA has directed the importer, Pronto Food Services Pte. Ltd., to recall the implicated products. The recall is ongoing.

In Singapore, all food additives, including colouring matter, must be approved by SFA before they can be allowed for use in food sold in Singapore. Consumers who have purchased the products and are concerned should stop using the products. Consumers may contact their point of purchase for enquiries.
