Suspension of HKP Food Technology Pte Ltd & Product Recall From Ho Kee Pau, NEX (SFA)

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has suspended the food business operations of HKP Food Technology Pte Ltd (located at Blk 3015 Bedok North St 5 #04-16/17 Shimei East Kitchen), a food manufacturer which supplies food products to Ho Kee Pau’s retail outlets, with effect from 30 June 2021 until further notice.

SFA have also issued a direction to recall food products that have been distributed to Ho Kee Pau’s retail outlet at 23 Serangoon Central, NEX, on 30 June 2021.

2 On 30 June 2021, during an inspection of the premises, widespread pest infestations, such as cockroaches and rodent droppings, were observed in the food preparation and assembly areas.

The premises was also found to be poorly maintained.

3 In the interest of public health, SFA has directed the licensee to rectify the lapses and take the necessary measures to improve the cleanliness of its premises.

Various food products, such as dim sum, traditional paus and pastries, were delivered to Ho Kee Pau’s retail outlet at 23 Serangoon Central, NEX, on 30 June 2021. As a precautionary measure, SFA has also directed the company to recall the food products sent to this outlet.

4 Consumers who have purchased the implicated products from Ho Kee Pau’s retail outlet at NEX on 30 June 2021 are advised not to consume them.

Those who have consumed the implicated products and have concerns about their health should seek medical advice.

5 Food safety is a joint responsibility. SFA would like to remind food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times. SFA will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.

In the interest of maintaining a high standard of food hygiene, we would also like to advise members of the public who come across poor hygiene practices in establishments not to patronise such outlets but to report to SFA via the online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback) with details for our follow-up investigations.
