LIANG SANDWICH BAR CLARIFIES CLOSURE OF SINGAPORE OUTLETS
Singapore, February 20, 2020 – With reference to news and social media reports on the recent closure of all four (4) Liang Sandwich Bar 粮全其美 outlets in Singapore, the Master Franchisee for South East Asia, the LIANG Group of Companies, today issued a statement to explain the development.
“Singapore has always been a key market for Liang Sandwich Bar in the region and we wish to clarify that the sudden closure of all outlets in Singapore was made solely by the local franchisee without proper consultation or authorisation from us or the Brand Principal,” said Jarvin Leow 廖学名 Chief Executive Officer, LIANG Group of Companies.
He elaborates: “We are deeply concerned that these actions have caused confusion and put Liang Sandwich Bar in bad light. The local franchisee has been censured and we have taken firm and appropriate measures to resolve this matter. We apologise to our customers for this disruption of our food offerings and reassure them that this closure is not permanent.”
Leow added that the Singapore outlet closures have, in fact, impeded the brand’s regional transformation efforts which commenced in July 2019 where Liang Sandwich Bar is being rebranded to Liang Crispy Roll 粮手抓. To date, China, South Korea, Australia and Malaysia have implemented the brand change in stages while Indonesia and the Philippines are earmarked for rebranding over the next two months. Aside from rebranding, Liang Crispy Roll will also be launching new outlets in New York, Chicago, London, Melbourne, Seoul and Manila in Q2 2020. Jay Chou remains the ambassador for Liang Crispy Roll.
“Nonetheless, Liang Crispy Roll is on track to make its debut in Singapore at several locations in Q4 2020. We are upbeat about the relaunch and will be ready to serve Singaporeans our signature crispy rolls and other exciting new menu offerings,” said Leow.
Liang Sandwich Bar (now Liang Crispy Roll) has a presence in 18 countries globally with over 12,800 outlets.
