Ever heard of Singapore beverages require Halal Certification?
Well, this Taiwanese Bubble Tea shop is Singapore is bringing the game one level UP~ By bring the FIRST Halal-Certified Bubble Tea in Singapore~!!
Quote via their Facebook page:
We are proud to announce that we have renewed our #Halal certification! TP Tea Singapore is the first Halal Certified Taiwanese Bubble Tea in Singapore with three outlets now:
● Changi Airport Terminal 2, Level 2
● Suntec City West Wing, #01-312
● Suntec City West Wing, #B1-K11 (TP Tea Express Kiosk)
According to their Website:
TP TEA was founded in 2005, and has utilized the 30 years of experience and expertise in tea to select tea leaves of the finest quality for our consumers.
However, a quick check on Singapore MUIS website, shows that basically all “DRINKS” are “Halal” except those “poisonous, intoxicating or are hazardous to health and that are mixed with “najis” e.g. alcoholic beverages, flavouring wines, etc“
Which makes us wonder why a Halal Certification is required for Bubble Tea in Singapore?
A Marketing Gimmick? What do you think?
Hi, actually there are some brands of the bubble tea pearls which contain gelatin derived from pigs or other non-halal meat sources, that’s why it would help to have specifically halal-certified outlets
