The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) are investigating an incident of gastroenteritis on 2 November 2019, affecting a total of 29 people who were reported to have gastroenteritis symptoms after consuming food prepared by M/S Singapore Fast Food Pte Ltd (Taj Catering). One case was hospitalised and has since been discharged.
2 In view of the multiple hygiene lapses detected during the MOH-SFA joint investigation, SFA has suspended the licence of Taj Catering with effect from 7 November 2019 until further notice.
3 All food handlers working in the suspended premises are required to reattend and pass the Basic Food Hygiene Course, before they can resume work as food handlers.
The appointed Food Hygiene Officer(s) working at the suspended premises are also required to re-attend and pass the Food Hygiene Officer course before he/she can resume work as a Food Hygiene Officer. The suspended premises is also required to clean and sanitise the premises, including equipment and utensils.
4 Food safety is a joint responsibility. SFA would like to remind food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times. SFA will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.
In the interest of maintaining a high standard of food hygiene at all eating establishments, we would also like to advise members of the public who come across poor hygiene practices in food establishments not to patronise such outlets but to call our Contact Centre at 6805 2871 with details for our follow-up investigations.

SG Taste! would like disclaim that we are not attempting to suggest that “Royal Taj Catering” is the errant company reported by SFA, but is only curious why both companies shared the same operating business address (or central kitchen), and somehow not related at all, despite having almost a similar name..
