Xing Fu Tang (Century Square, Tampines)

Hurray to the bubble tea fanatics, as we welcome a new brand name that hails from Taiwan, Xing Fu Tang幸福堂, a popular bubble-tea outlet has finally opened its door in the Eastern part of Singapore, at Century Square Mall in Tampines.

From the introduction on its website, the brand was founded by Mr Chen in Taiwan and its signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk was inspired by Mr Chen’s grandmother.  Purportedly, Mr Chen’s grandmother has often prepared brown sugar treats and on one occasion, the brown sugar got slight burnt but it turned out to be even more delicious and aromatic.

The outlet at Tampines is located at Level One, and long queues can be seem since its official opening day on 28 June 2019.  Though the crowd seem to have lighten down, do expect an average queuing and waiting time of 5-15 minutes especially during the peak hours.

With its relatively open concept, one can view the entire process of making the “bubbles” from kneeling the tapioca flour into tiny balls to caramelising it in the large wok besides its cashier counter, and the preparation of the drink itself.

Rows of milk carton can be seen at its preparation counter, and it is because their No 1 seller is their Brown Sugar Boba Milk.  It doesn’t take much to guess why this is their best seller as who can resist the allure of aromatic caramelized brown sugar and it is especially good to sip up the bubbles while it is still warm accompanied by the cold fresh milk that is also laced with the caramelized brown sugar syrup. By the way, a regular cup sells for $5.30.

That’s not all, they sell soft serve at $4.50 as well!  There is an option of either Fresh Milk with Brown Sugar Boba or Chocolate & Strawberry Dream Mix.

Even if you are not a milk or brown sugar lover, they have other popular alternatives like Damascus Rose Tea with Lemons, Grapefruit Green Tea and even a Mango Smoothie and Rabbit Panna Cotta that has a figurine of a small white rabbit on the top of the drink. So cute!!

If you are sick & tired from the usual bubble tea chain stores, go on and grab yourself a cup at Century Square, #01-22.
