3 Animal blood food products, such as pig blood, can easily support the growth of bacteria and harbour diseases. Unhygienic harvesting of blood can also result in the introduction of food borne pathogens into blood food products.

Illegally imported food products are of unknown sources and can pose a food safety risk. In Singapore, food imports must meet SFA’s requirements.

Food can only be imported by licensed importers, and every consignment must be declared and accompanied with a valid import permit.

4 Members of the public who come across the sale of illegal food products online are advised not to patronize such platforms and provide feedback via our online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback) or to call our SFA Contact Centre at 6805 2871 with details for our follow-up investigations.

5 Any person who is found guilty of illegally importing and selling pig blood products is liable to a maximum fine of S$50,000 and/or 2 years jail term or to both for first conviction, and in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding S$100,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or to both.
