Elite Fine Food LLP, an importer and supplier of fine foods, was fined $2,000 by the Court today, for the operation and storage of meat and seafood products in an unlicensed cold store.

2 In December 2019, officers from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) found that Elite Fine Food LLP had been storing meat and seafood products in an unlicensed cold store with a chiller and freezer. About 1027kg of frozen and chilled meat and seafood products, including processed pork, duck and beef, were seized.

3 Illegal storage of meat/fish at unlicensed facilities pose food safety risks. In Singapore, all meat and/or fish storage facilities must be licensed, and are required to meet SFA’s requirements and food safety standards. These licensed premises are also routinely inspected by SFA. Offenders who illegally store meat and/or fish products shall be liable on conviction to a maximum fine of $10,000 and/or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.
