As a precautionary measure, <strong><em>SFA has directed the importer, Goodwill Business Pte Ltd, to recall<\/em><\/strong> the implicated product as aspartame was not declared on the English food packaging label. <br><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2939\" width=\"833\" height=\"548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-10.png 635w, https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-10-300x197.png 300w, https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-10-75x50.png 75w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 833px) 100vw, 833px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><br>The recall is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aspartame is a permitted food additive that is used as an artificial sweetener and is approved for use in food worldwide. There is no scientific evidence to suggest that the <a><\/a>consumption of aspartame can lead to adverse effects in the general population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, aspartame affects individuals with phenylketonuria (a rare genetic disease) because their bodies are unable to break down phenylalanine, a component of aspartame. When phenylalanine is accumulated in persons with phenylketonuria, it can cause damage to the brain and nervous system. Individuals with phenylketonuria should avoid consuming the implicated product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consumers who have purchased the implicated product and have concerns about their health should not consume it.
