Its Director, <strong><em>Tan Kar Jiun<\/em><\/strong>, was also <strong><em>fined $5,000 for failing to prevent the offence from being committed<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 On 17 November 2020, during a joint operation conducted by the <strong><em>Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and Immigration &amp; Checkpoints Authority (ICA),<\/em><\/strong> a truck carrying food produce consigned to JQA Pte Ltd was detained by ICA officers at Woodlands Command. <br><br>The case was then referred to SFA for follow-up investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"792\" height=\"492\" src=\"https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2828\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-9.png 792w, https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-9-300x186.png 300w, https:\/\/sgtaste.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/image-9-768x477.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 792px) 100vw, 792px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>3.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 SFA\u2019s investigations found that the company <strong><em>illegally imported approximately 362.4kg of undeclared and under-declared fresh fruits and vegetables in the consignments imported from Malaysia.<\/em><\/strong> All the illegal consignments were seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In Singapore, food imports must meet SFA\u2019s requirements. Fruits and vegetables can only be imported by licensed importers, and every consignment must be declared and accompanied with a valid import permit. ICA will continue to conduct security checks to detect and deter illegal importation attempts so as to keep Singapore safe.
