Richard Lim Lian Chye<\/em><\/strong>, the owner of Drinkstar Enterprise<\/em><\/strong>, was fined $3,500<\/em><\/strong> by the Court today <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 Following feedback from a member of the public, officers from Singapore Food Agency (SFA)<\/em><\/strong> conducted an inspection on 18 Dec 2019 at the premises of Drinkstar Enterprise at 55 Serangoon North Ave 4 #01-07<\/em><\/strong>.

They found several empty 19-litre water bottles and water dispensers at the premises <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 Lim admitted to carrying out illegal water bottling activities by filling up 19-litre bottles with tap water from the toilet of the premises.

These bottled water were then sold to customers to fulfil outstanding sales orders. Lim was instructed to stop the bottling activities and recall the bottled water that had been sold. A total of 15 units of 19-litre water bottles were recalled and disposed of. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 Illegal bottling of water at unlicensed facilities poses a food safety risk. In Singapore, all water bottling facilities must be licensed and are required to meet SFA\u2019s requirements and food safety standards.

These licensed premises are also routinely inspected by SFA.

Offenders who illegally bottled water shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $10,000, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months, or both. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
